Benescke Janse van Rensburg

I want to end the series with a personal testimony of how God has demonstrated His goodness to me over the past 11 weeks.  In the second week of September, I broke my leg. I had an operation. Two weeks later we moved to a new home. Luckily my mom could come down from the Free State to help us move and run the household as I was totally dependent on everyone around me.

Arriving in the new house, the heavy boxes stood up to the roof. One morning, out of pure frustration, I decided to submit a job request to Radio Tygerberg's Employment Bulletin. Weekly, listeners are told about job opportunities that they can apply for. We needed someone who could help move and unpack boxes. The applications came streaming in and my phone did not stop ringing. How on earth would we choose the right applicant? My mother’s suggestion was that we pray and trust God to guide us. From nearly 70 WhatsApp messages, we chose Veronica.

Veronica showed up the next day and worked hard. In between unpacking, I found out that she was actually a trained journalist who worked for a large media group in South Africa before moving to Cape Town. Even though she sent out 300 plus CV’s (and is able to speak 6 languages), she could not find a job. In passing, she mentioned that she has a driver's license.

The night when Veronica left, it hit me that I was going to need a driver when my mom returns home. I managed to arrange for Veronica to work as an “intern” in the news room at the radio. While I was in the studio, she could help out there instead of just sitting and waiting for me. The management initially gave her 3 days to prove herself. She did. Soon she was welcomed with open arms to work there for the rest of the time she was driving me around. At the end of the six weeks, Veronica got a job as a journalist in a new division at the radio!

In the 11 months prior, Veronica had to learn to trust God for provision. He did provide for her. Day after day she also asked Him to open a door for her to get a job. When she expected it least, God superseded her expectations.

With the celebratory tour of the Springboks through the streets of Cape Town, Veronica was one of the few journalists who received the opportunity to join them - a life radically changed in just two months.

In Jeremiah 32:27 the Lord says:  "I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” Also in Revelation 3: 8 God says: “I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut.

Nothing is impossible to God. He provided what I needed every step of the way. He opened a much better door than what Veronica anticipated. My prayer is that we will never stop trusting Him. What seems impossible to people is possible to Him. God bless.

Father God, thank you for still doing miracles. Please help me not to give up if my breakthrough takes a little while. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
