DAY 27: START YOUR DAY WITH GOD ...

By Benescke Janse van Rensburg

Where do you meet with God?
In a research study I undertook to identify the places in which people spend time with God daily, a women told me that she meets God for a half an hour daily on her porch. Another woman said that she steps out onto her balcony for 15 minutes in the morning to say “Good morning” to God and to ask Him for wisdom for her day’s tasks. One of the men I interviewed told me that he listens to worship music on his way to work and because he arrives 20 minutes early for work, he closes his office’s door and spends time with God.

Although all three of the people emphasize that walking with God means you can talk to him throughout the day, they sometimes become so busy that the morning meeting with God is essential to make a success of their day. Although they all agree that initially it was difficult to get into that routine, they were all surprised to find that God’s presence is already there when they arrived on the porch, the balcony or the office - almost as if He is there to keep their appointment.

Listen again to the words in James 4:8 "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”

God created us humans to stand in a relationship with Him. Why don’t you choose to put off the radio for a few minutes on your way to work to speak to God or go to work a few minutes earlier so you can meet with him behind a closed door. He desires to speak to you today through his Holy Spirit. All we need to do is take the time to listen! God bless.

Father God, thank you for the knowledge that you desire to stand in a relationship with me. Please help me to manage my time so that I can talk to You – and to listen to You speaking to me. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
