The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. Isaiah 5811a, NIV

I came across this piece on social media:

“If you feel like you hate everyone, eat something.
If you feel like everyone hates you, go to sleep.
If you feel like you hate yourself, have a shower.
If you feel like everyone hates everyone, go outside.”

This piece made me smile, because I realised that most of us have been guilty of overlooking the “simple immediate solution” that might be presented right in front of us during difficult times. I’m not necessarily talking about eating, sleeping, showering or going outside. Sometimes, God leads us through his Holy Spirit in a direction, but the current challenge overwhelms us to such an extent that we don’t pay attention to his guidance.

In Isaiah 58:11, it is written: “The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”

May we be still and listen. God is with us in the dry seasons of our lives. He strengthens us. He wants to demonstrate his goodness to us.

Prayer: Father God, you are in control of my life. Help me not to be overwhelmed by situations beyond my control, but rather to place my faith and trust in you again. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
