Thankful for his faithfulness in my weakness - 23 April 2026

But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV
We live in a world that admires strength and regards it highly. Success, confidence, and talent are celebrated. Weakness, brokenness, and limitations? We tend to hide them. It’s easy to feel embarrassed by the things we cannot do or the ways we stumble.
But the gospel tells a surprising truth: God often works best through our weaknesses.
The apostle Paul knew this firsthand. In 2 Corithians 12 he talks about a “thorn in the flesh” – something that hurt him and held him back. Three times he asked the Lord to take it away. But God didn’t remove it. Instead, He gave Paul a promise: “My grace is all you need.”
God’s grace is sufficient for every situation we face. It carries us when our strength runs out. It holds us when we feel discouraged. It fills in the places where our own abilities fall short.
Paul says something remarkable: he even boasts in his weaknesses. Not because weakness itself is good, but because it’s where Christ’s power shines the most. When I feel strong, I tend to rely on myself, but when I’m faced with my limitations, I learn to lean on God.
Here’s the freeing truth: I don’t have to be a perfect Christian for God to use me. I don’t have to pretend I have it all together. I can be honest about my weaknesses – because it’s exactly there that God’s power can work.
Being thankful for God’s faithfulness in my weakness brings peace. I don’t have to carry life on my own shoulders. His grace is sufficient for today, for tomorrow, and for every day ahead.
Feeling weak doesn’t mean God has abandoned you. Often, it’s exactly where he’s closest and working most powerfully.
Prayer: Lord, thank you that your grace is enough for me. Thank you that I don’t have to figure everything out on my own. Help me place my weaknesses in your hands and trust that your power can shine through them. Amen.
