I like God because he helps me to fight sin (3)

Take the helmet of salvation Ephesians 6:17

In Ephesians Paul says that we must fight the battle against Satan. In fact, we should fit our feet with the readiness to spread the good news of the peace with God even further. We must be loyal to the Lord and continue to fight until our death against the enemies of God.

Actually, it is logical. When we give up the fight, we make it very easy for Satan. Then we stand back and give Satan the freedom to do what he wants. When we leave the battleground we no longer mean anything to God. And he, who is not for the Lord, is against him. It can be said as simple as that. Can a boxer during one of the rounds relax a little? Of course not, even though he may be ahead on points. His opponent can easily trap him in a corner and let him lose the fight. When we relax in our resistance against Satan, we can be sure we will get a few blows.

When we do not believe that the weapons that the Lord had given us are strong enough to win the battle against Satan, we might as well dump the weapons in the garage. What does the truth mean, if you do not believe in it? What does Jesus’ salvation mean if you do not believe in it? What does the battle against Satan mean if you do not believe in it? Nothing.

The helmet of salvation implies that God has promised us that we will win the battle against Satan. God has already in Jesus planted the knockout, the coup de grâce. This has already been proven true. We won. Hold on to it. Do not think that Satan has a chance to defeat God. Satan is the loser. You and I belong to the side that has already won.

Prayer: Lord, without your help Satan will overwhelm me. Without your help Satan will push me in a corner in the ring. I pray that you will help me to know your weapons and to use it every day in the battle against Satan. Amen
