Grateful for Jesus as the way, the truth, and the life - 28 April 2026

Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.’ John 14:6, NIV
In a world full of different ideas about God and about life, many people ask: "How do you really find the way to God?" There are so many voices claiming they know the truth, and so many paths that promise peace and fulfilment.
But in John 14 Jesus makes an incredibly clear statement. He doesn’t say, “I will show you the way.” He says, “I am the way.”
That means the Christian faith is not inherently about a set of rules or a philosophy, it is about a Person – Jesus Christ himself. He is the way to the Father, because through his death on the cross and his resurrection he opened the way that we could never open for ourselves.
Our sin had separated us from God, but Jesus bridged that separation. He carried our guilt and reconciled us with God. Because of that, everyone who believes in him can come to the Father with confidence.
Jesus also says, “I am the truth.”
In a world where truth is often treated as something relative, Jesus reminds us that ultimate truth is found in him. He shows us who God is, what his heart is like, and what really matters in life. When we know Jesus, we come to know God the Father.
And then he says, “I am the life.”
Real life is not just breathing or getting through each day. Real life is living in a relationship with God – starting now, and lasting forever. This life begins when we surrender our lives to Christ, and one day it will be complete when we are with him.
What a wonderful reason to be grateful. We do not have to wander around searching for the right path. God himself came to us in the body of Jesus. In him we have the way to the Father, the truth for our lives, and the life that will never end.
That is why we can live every day with gratitude: we are not lost. We know the way – and the way knows us.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you that you are the way, the truth, and the life. Thank you that I do not have to find the way to God on my own, but that you provided a way for me. Help me to follow you every day and to live in your truth. May my life show that my hope and my life are found in you alone. Amen.
