Hope for the future - 3 July 2026

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:24, NIV
In the life of a believer, gratitude and faith naturally go hand in hand. In Mark 11:24, Jesus teaches his disciples an important principle of prayer: when we pray, we must believe that God hears us and that he is in control of the answer. This faith is not based on what we see, but on who God is.
Often, we pray for something and then wait anxiously to see the results. We easily focus on the problem, the waiting period or the uncertainty of the situation. However, Jesus invites us to live differently. He teaches us to pray with confidence and to expect, in faith, that God will act. This trust naturally leads to a posture of gratitude.
Gratitude that is born from faith says: “Lord, I thank you even before I see the answer.” This does not mean we try to manipulate God or dictate how he must respond. It means we trust that he is good, wise and faithful. We believe that he hears our prayers and that he will answer in the right time and in the best way according to his will for us.
When we pray with this attitude, something changes in our hearts. Our focus shifts from our circumstances to God’s character. We remember his faithfulness and gain new courage for the future. Every answered prayer becomes a reminder that the Lord is still the same. The God who provided yesterday is the God who is working today and will provide again tomorrow.
This does not mean every answer will look exactly as we expected. Sometimes God says “yes,” sometimes “wait” and sometimes he responds in ways we do not foresee. Yet we can remain thankful because we know he always acts in love and that his plans are better than our own.
Today, bring your needs, dreams and challenges before the Lord. Pray with faith and trust in his goodness. Let gratitude be a part of your prayer, not because you know the outcome, but because you know the God who holds the outcome in his hands. When faith and gratitude work together, we find peace in knowing that God is at work, even when we cannot see it yet.
Prayer: Lord, thank you that I can come to you in prayer with confidence. Thank you that you hear me and care about every need in my life. Help me to pray with faith and to wait with gratitude for your answer. Strengthen my trust in your faithfulness and teach me to rest in the knowledge that your plans are best for me. Amen.
