It’s never too late to ask for help - 29 October 2025

Charlea Grey

I look up to the mountains and I ask: “Is there someone who can help me?” The Lord is the One who will help me. He made heaven and earth. Psalms 121:1–2, The Bible for the Deaf

Are you a proud person? When it comes to asking for help, do you experience feelings of shame or fear? Do you feel like you have to manage everything on your own and that you can only rely on yourself?

Do you ask for help when you need it? I don’t mean occasional favours, but genuine help. Do you reach out when you truly need it?

Truthfully, I’ve admitted before: I’m a bit of a control freak. I don’t easily ask for help. No matter what the situation is, I would rather push through on my own, take on more than I should and do it all by myself.

I know that I’m not the only one who experiences this. The reality is, nobody can do everything on their own. Eventually, something will fall through the cracks, and we will be forced to ask for help, a way out or for support.

There are many areas in life where help is necessary, and it’s not just work-related. Sometimes, we need guidance in relationships or direction when we’re at a crossroads.

I always feel happy when someone asks me for help, whether it’s advice or something practical I can do to make life a little easier for them. What can I say? I enjoy feeling needed.

Similarly, God wants to help us. He also wants us to acknowledge that we need Him, just as there are people who love you and want to help and be involved in your life.

We are allowed to ask for help. It doesn’t make us weak; instead, it means we are aware of our humanity and recognise that we can’t juggle everything alone.

The best part of all is that the people you turn to for help will most likely be overjoyed to offer you support.

Prayer: Dear Lord, it is not always easy to ask for help. Please help me to turn to You when I feel overwhelmed and to ask for help without shame. Amen.
